Science
During this year, we have lots of exciting science lessons planned. We will be focusing on:
Living Things & their Habitats
Forces
Earth & Space
Properties & Changes
Animals including humans
Living things and their habitats
Our first science topic is 'Living things and their habitats'. Below you will see photographs of us disecting a Lilly whilst learning about the life process of reproduction in plants. Within this lesson, we predicted what we will find when we dissected the Lilly, we recorded the results from the dissection using a scientific diagram and then recorded the life cycle of a Lilly. During this half term, we had a trip to Healey Dell where we got the opportunity to look at a variation of living things and their habitats. We especially loved learning about the rigs of time. We were able to share lots of of science knowledge with the ranger and also a little bit of our topic knowledge when it came to the forest floor and 'mulch'.
Forces
During Autumn 2, our science topic is 'forces' where we will be identifyng the effects of air resistance, water resistance and friction, that act between moving surfaces; planning different types of scientific enquiries to answer questions, including recognising and controlling variables where necessary; using a range of scientific equipment, with increasing accuracy and precision; taking repeat readings when appropriate and recording data and results of increasing complexity and using scientific diagrams and labels, classification keys, tables, scatter graphs, bar and line graphs. Below, please find some photographs of the many experiments that the class have lead this half term.
