Become a Governor

We are currently seeking to appoint new members to the governing board of St John the Baptist 
RC Primary School. The school is a thriving and long-established educational
establishment at the heart of Rochdale, providing excellent learning opportunities for
pupils of all faiths, backgrounds and needs. The governing board supports the school in
offering high-quality curriculum experiences for all pupils
Governing boards of schools require skills and expertise from many occupations and
walks of life:
- financial and accounting
- communication
- organisational
- health and social care
- business and professional
- child development and education
…but most of all, governing boards need people who are committed to ensuring good
learning opportunities for all pupils.
No experience of being a school governor is needed, just an enthusiasm to make a
difference for children – training opportunities will be provided.
Due to the nature of the role, anyone appointed to the governing board would be
required to undergo relevant safeguarding checks – these are standard and easy to do.
