One family in Christ

Worship: Prayers

Children say prayers daily and we have a prayer progression throughout the school. We also have dedicated prayer areas around school, should children wish to pray alone or with a friend/group. There is also a dedicated prayer room; used for private prayer by children and staff and also used for class Celebration of the Word.

Children can write prayers or say a spontaneous prayer in different areas around school. The children enjoy using their classroom altar as a place to place their prayers.

As the Our Father is the focus prayer for The Year of Prayer, the children use this space to reflect on The Lord's Prayer and set up a Celebrations of the Word sessions with their peers.

To celebrate the Year of Prayer, the children have been exploring different ways of speaking to God. We talked about how we are so lucky to have 31 language in our schools and how we should celebrate this. Children wrote and shared prayers in their own languages!

To prepare for Advent, we invited our families into participate in our Celebration of the Word. For each day during Advent, the children will take the Stay and Pray bag home to reflect on the meaning of Advent with their families.
