Forces and Magnets
Our first unit in Science is 'Forces and Magnets'. In this unit, we will explore how things move on different surfaces, how magnetic forces can act at a distance, observe how magnets attract or repel each other and predict whether two magnets will attract or repel each other, depending on which poles are facing.
Light
Our second unit is ‘Light’. In this unit children will explore how we need light in order to see things and that dark is the absence of light, notice that light is reflected from surfaces, recognise that light from the sun can be dangerous and explore how shadows are formed.
Animals and Humans
In this unit, children will develop specialised knowledge, skills and understanding in nutrition, muscles, bones and joints. They will gain a better understanding of how we can lead a healthier lifestyle.
Rocks
In our forth unit, we will be learning about Rocks and Fossils. By the end of this unit, children should be able to compare and group together different kinds of rocks on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties, describe how fossils are formed and recognise that soils are made from rocks and organic matter.
