Spring term
During the Spring term we will be continuing to read and write words with phase 5 digraphs and phase 5 split digraphs. We will also be preparing for our phonics test by playing lots of different games and doing lots of different reading activities.
In phonics we are starting on phase 5 and will continue to work within this phase learning the new sounds (phonemes) and thinking about which letters (graphemes) make up these sounds. We will be working through each sound carefully, applying it words and sentences in preparation for the year 1 phonics test at the end of the year.
Autumn term
So far we have recapped the sound in phase 3 and have started phase 5. Below is a copy of the phase 2, 3, 4 and 5 sound mats.

So far we have recapped the sound in phase 2 and some children have started phase 3. The aim is to get through these phases quickly so that we can start Phase 5, which is where the children normally start in Year 1. Below is a copy of the phase 2, 3, 4 and 5 sound mats.
