Numeracy

Within our numeracy lessons, we will be focusing on developing our knowledge of fractions and shapes. We Will also be tackling one step problems. The children will begin to develop their knowledge of the four operations and use different strategies to help them address challenges. The children will be introduced a range of written and mental methods which they can use to solve fraction problems. They will be exposed to the different ways they can use this knowledge to tackle challenging questions. They will continue to practise their times tables every morning. 

How can I help support my child at home?

Super fun activities can be practised at home during every day activities! The family can count on their journey to school, discuss the different times during the day and practise their times tables daily! 

Children have a fantastic opportunity to practise their tables knowledge when taking the kindle home each week 

Upon returning back to school after lockdown, the opportunities provided are as the following- 

• Daily maths flashbacks are assigned on the Seesaw app where the children are given opportunities to keep reminding themselves of the maths units we have already covered. 
• TTRockstars- the children have their individual logins and can continue practicing their timetables on their afterschool and on the weekends. 
• Weekly word problems- Every week the children will be set a word problem  which they will have to complete using their knowledge of the maths skills learnt in class.

Therefore, can you please ensure that you encourage your child to make use of all the resources that are available to support their learning.
