Here is a quick insight into the type of things that we will be learning about during Spring 2:
Literacy - This half term, we are continuing our Literacy work on 'Anglo Saxon Boy' which was linked to our topic in Spring 1.
Reading - Initially, our guided reading will focus on our class text of 'Anglo Saxon Boy'. We will continue to work on a range of questions appropriate for year 5 including retrieval, inference and vocabulary questions.
Maths - In Spring 2 we will continue our focus on fraction for the first part of the half term. We will be learning how to add, subtract and multiply fractions. We will then move on to beginning working on decimals and percentages.
History and Geography - Our topic this half term is 'The Kingdom of Benin' in Africa. We will be finding out where in the world Benin is and the timer period of the kingdom. We will also look at how they practised religion and what life was life for the people in that period, including how they lived and the incredible art they produced. We will move on to considering the slave trade and how the people of west Africa were effected. We will think about the different societies in Weest Africa and how they impacted life in the west.
Religious Education - In Spring 2 we will begin our work on Lent and Easter, an important time in the Catholic faith.
