EYFS 2021 - 2022
At St John the Baptist Catholic Primary school we welcome you and your child into our Early Years Foundation Stage (or EYFS) classrooms. The Nursery and Reception classrooms are led by caring members of staff who are able to continue your child's learning journey in our fantastic environment.
We also have our own wonderful outdoor areas where lots of exciting learning takes place.
In addition to our learning themes, there is plenty of opportunity for the children to guide their own learning. We have daily phonics, stories and maths sessions too!
This half term's theme for Nursery is ‘Dinosaurs’ and Reception is ‘Mininbeats’ and the provision is set up for children to explore and investigate within these themes. They can also use the continuous provision to develop their own interests and explore those of others too. In Nursery, we are looking at a range of books, including, 'Tyrannosaurus Drip', 'Hide-a-saurus', ‘Dear Dinosaur’ and 'Stomp, Chomp, Big Roars'. In Reception, we are looking at 'Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell'.
In EYFS we use Tapestry. Tapestry is a secure online Learning Journal to record photos, observations and comments, in line with the EYFS curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences at school. The children will love talking to you about their photos and you will have the opportunity to talk to them about their learning! If you have any questions about Tapestry, or anything else regarding your child at school, please come and talk to us.
