After a lot of work over the past few months, our new Media Suite is up and running. This exciting learning environment includes a radio station; green screen; HD camera; modelling and control area; animation studio and four collaborative workstations. When the suite was officially opened, Adam Catterall, a DJ on Talksport, came into school and spoke to the children in assembly about how to create a story on the radio. He then worked with groups of children from Year 5. Each group held a production meeting with roles and responsibilities, script writing, debate subjects and interview techniques, which were practiced and shared. They all then had the opportunity to present their own radio show. Following the visit, the groups will be working on a project set by Adam, exploring topics such as films, music and sport, helping them to implement their learning and ensuring their experience ties into the creative curriculum.
